Job expressed his desire to meet God numerous times throughout the book. Often he used legal imagery, challenging God to a court case. "I desire to speak to the Almighty and to argue my case with God" (13:3). "Now that I have prepared my case, I know I will be vindicated. Can anyone bring charges against me? If so, I will be silent and die" (13:18-19). "If only I could go to his dwelling! I would state my case before him and fill my mouth with arguments. . . . There an upright man could present his case before him, and I would be delivered forever from my judge" (23:3-4, 7).
